Sarah's Cure for MS

Donation protected
My Mum was diagnosed with MS around 20 years ago. To begin with, life wasn't much different besides the odd off day and occasional slip or fall. Years passed and as they did, the condition worsened over a steady period. After a sudden and unexpected heart attack, the MS deteriorated rather quick and affected what used to be simple tasks such as walking, driving, and even eating. Nowadays my Mum cannot walk on her own, doesn't drive, and struggles eating for herself. For myself and the entire family, this is heartbreaking.

She has always been, and still is, one of the most friendly, inspiring and heartwarming people you will meet. Despite the odd down day where she still braves a smile, my mum is a ray of light in so many peoples lives. She has countless friends and a strong family who are all here to support her now that times are tougher, and upon hearing about HSCT, are all relieved that we may be able to assist her with fighting the debilitating illness that has stuck with her for too long.

HSCT itself is not available in this country for my mother as her condition is too poor.  She will have to travel with my Dad, Robin, to Mexico in order to receive the treatment she requires and deserves. However, this does come at a cost. After calculating travel costs, the treatment itself and after care, the total cost of funds required will be around and probably in excess of £40,000. As a family we will be partaking in fundraising activities in order to do our best to contribute towards this goal, however we do understand that it is a lot of money and that it may take some time to raise. we are looking at raising this money in a few months time, by hopefully the end of summer.

The treatment is my Mum's last hope as her condition gets worse, and we all fear that the longer it is left, the less chance we have of a positive outcome. Whave been given so far from friends and family, and the support that will be offered over the coming months.

This page will receive regular updates from various family members, and we will keep you posted on the numerous fundraising activities that occur so that hopefully some of you can get involved. Thank you so much for reading, I hope you can read this and be inspired to take action.
