Black Girls Surf supports girls/women whose career goals are competing in professional surfing. Through, the fundraising efforts we have been able to send athletes to compete and train with professionals to ensure that they are prepared.

Black Girls Surf is raising funds to send West African, female surfers, such as Khajdou Sambe (Senegal ) and Kadiatu Kamara (Sierra Leone) to the World Surfing League. Khadjou is a WSL member currently but needs funds to travel to contests. Kadiatu is training daily in her home country of Salone but trainers are limited, surf training and conditioning is non existent. These young women are the first female surfers in their countries.

While they wait for funding, both one have taken on the charge to reach out to the next generation of girls and began training them. Kadiatu now has 10 young girls who are working with her on their surfing goals. Khadjou has 15 girls she and Marta Imarisio are currently training at Malika Surf Camp in Yoff, Senegal. Black Girls Surf is assisting them as well.

Another issue we hope to solve is educational support. Unlike the US, African parents are required to pay fees for their school age child. Every child registered with Black Girls Surf must attend school. We’d like to assist the parents financially to keep all girls in school. The amount per month is $4 - 6.00 each per month.

Under BGS, they will have an opportunity to train with surfing professionals while continuing their education.

Your contribution will assist them in their journey to greatness.

Donations will cover the following:

1. Passport & Visas
2. Airfare to California
3. Room & Board
4. Equipment  & Board Charges
5. School Fees

We will keep you weekly updated on their progress. Thank you in advance.

Khadjou made the Senegalese Olympic surf team! It’s been exactly one year today that Khadjou came to San Jose to train for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. This would not have happened without the support of 100’s of caring people around the world. She’s headed back home to her home country to continue her training with her teammates.

We still need your support especially now. Her dream of representing women all over the world is being realized through our fundraising efforts.

Thank you to EVERYONE who has supported us for the last 365 days.

‍♀️,

“Coach Rho”

The girls from Madagascar were assigned a historic figure to reenact their photo. This young picked Khadjou Sambe. We know we’re doing the right thing each and every day when we receive donations or media coverage.

Khadjou still has a chance for the Olympics in Tokyo 2020. She is also chasing dreams on the WSL.

We still need your help. Any donation is appreciated.

Mahalo for all of your warm wishes and donations.
