We are now in another national lockdown and the suicide rate is rising.
ALL MONEY RAISED WILL GO TOWARD MENTAL HEALTH WORKSHOPS AND MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT FOR THE COMMUNITY.
So far we have
raised awareness through our share a story campaignin
given out 18 well-being boxes to mums
held 3 mental health support groups in person and given out free self help packs
given free 121 coaching sessions to both adults and children
Sent out free yoga and exercise plans
organised 8 monthly support groups to start again once we come out of lockdown

On the 2nd of November starting at 9.10 after the school run, myself and my friend Demi ventured on a Barefoot walk. I organised this walk on an impulse after I reached out to the Princes Trust to help me start my new venture starting a business in holistic wellbeing.
I did several laps around the beautiful Bradgate park, accompanied by my amazing friend Demi Gee and on a few laps by friends and my mum Jane Whitmore, Gilly Haines, Robert Weeks, and Demi’s friends Laura and Leanne, though not everyone fancied going barefoot, it was quite chilly! I decided not to bother even taking shoes, so I wasn’t tempted. The first lap was exhilarating, I felt really grounded and connected to nature! Which ties in well with my new business.
We had lots of deep conversation on the topic of mental health yesterday and it was great to listen to each other’s different perspectives and experiences, however it spurred me on even more as it became even more apparent how much we need more support surrounded mental health and suicide prevention.
The weather was beautiful, albeit chilly! I was so glad it didn’t rain after seeing the forecast! We got very lucky. We stopped to eat once and once for coffee, speaking to some lovely people along the way. The last couple of laps for me were difficult, I had some pain in my shins and my feet were very numb, I found myself quite drowsy and just kind of went inside myself. It was also really dark and the deer were a bit close for comfort! Demi was amazing and so supportive!
We managed to complete our walk at 6.30pm and enjoyed a drink and some cake provided by Gilly at the Copt Oak to end the day.
I’m already putting lots of plans into place to get help to people despite my workshops and classes being postponed for now. These will begin as soon as possible at the Marlene Reid centre, Coalville. For now I will be doing everything I can for our community mental health in this next 4 week lockdown using these donations, thank you so much everyone! Keep donating and keep smiling! We may have 4 weeks of lockdown but we still have nature to enjoy!
A bit about me - I’m a young single parent of two and an abuse survivor who has struggled with mental health for 16 years and find it almost impossible to access the right support even when I’ve been in crisis. This is why this means so much to me!

Woodland wellbeing was started in October. I decided to start this business after the last lockdown as I had a bit of a mental breakdown at the beginning following a breakup, but I managed to keep myself sane and get better by doing yoga, studying, meditating, teaching myself how to bake vegan and spending lots of time in nature with the kids. I decided to leave my job as a learning support assistant when my contract ended as I’d qualified as a plant based nutritionist and got online certificates yoga instructing, NLP, meditation and counselling skills, attended business and coaching webinars whenever I could, all on top of taking care of the kids. I’m now doing my counselling level 3 and a personal training course in the evenings, on top of organising mental health workshops and fundraising, so I can help people in a holistic way, as traditional counselling has never worked for me, I thought I’d try coaching people in a different way. Unfortunately my yoga classes, 1:1 coaching and workshops have had to be postponed for now, which means the next couple of months could be a struggle. But I plan on using this money to help all the people that wanted to attend my workshops, and anyone else who may be struggling. I’m 100% dedicated to helping others, the community, the environment and healing myself in the process, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done!
