7 Day Fast for the Planet

I’ve got a special one coming up in next week. On 24/07 I’m going to be turning 24 (+during my zodiac year!!)

Which means it’s the perfect time for, that’s right you guessed it, a fundraiser where I do a 7 * 24 hour fast.

So, starting on the 24th July, I’m going to consume nothing but water for 7 days.

An issue very close to my heart is environmental protection, so the group I wish to support in this fundraiser is Friends of the Earth.  One of the many things I really like about them is their acknowledgement that we have a lot of the technology we need to tackle the climate crisis, but decisions at the policy-level are simply not being made at the necessary scale. By holding administrative bodies accountable for their hypocrisy and inaction, we could make significant progress against climate change.

Here’s a link to their campaigns page for those interested: https://friendsoftheearth.uk/about-us/our-campaigns

I don’t wish to spend too long here preaching about the environmental message, but I do wish to share something Tom Rivett-Carnac, an author on climate change policy and a political lobbyist for the UNFCCC, has said about the decarbonisation required in the next 10 years:

“The next 10 years has become a once-in-humanity opportunity to get this right. We have left this so late, that if we are unable to reduce our emissions by fully 50% in the next 10 years, then we begin to lose control of some of the feedback loops in the climatic system, at which point we are no longer able to mitigate many of the alarming effects that occur. This equates to a 7.6% reduction in carbon emissions every year for the next ten years.”

If this quote, in particular the very last sentence, doesn’t scare you quite a bit, then we have a bigger problem.

If anyone wants to have a more in-depth conversation about environmental issues then I’d love to hear from you, drop me a message/call: I’d love to get dialogues going, share educational resources and ideas etc.

If you think this is a cause worthy of a few pounds or more, then please donate!

If you wish to make my suffering a little bit more bearable (you’re too kind), then please donate!

If you think I’m a fucking idiot and this is dumb, then please donate!

I’m also going to match every donation £for£ (up to £247).

Also will be keeping something of a log over on insta. If you want to see a very low blood-sugary man cry about not being able to eat peanut butter (no judgement), then @cometothezoo is where’ll you find this truly low quality content.

TL;DR: raising money for the planet, come chip in please k love u x

Peace and thank you,
