I have always loved and excelled in Classics, I truly believe I was born to study it and help bring unique perspectives to the field. Having just finished a dissertation entitled 'Grief, Bitches and Brothas, A Gangsta Rap Adaptation of Catullus 37 and 101', one could say that I've not exactly been the run-of-the-mill student within my department at the University of Birmingham.
Black experiences are missing from Classical fields. In seminars throughout my four years of undergrad, the only other Black person I've seen is my own face reflected in the Smartboard or Zoom interface. Why? Because access is limited and often gatekept. Nevertheless, I'm damn stubborn.
I am going to scrape, grind and earn my way to the top, because my life experience as an autistic Black woman living in the UK has provided something key: resiliance.
So please, share and donate as much as you can. I really appreciate all the love and support offered so far, especially those of you who encouraged me to do this. Together we can make it happen
EDIT: After my learning technology and notes (along with other personal items) were stolen in a break-in on May 13th, funds will also be used to repurchase learning equipment. Thank you so much to everyone who has checked in. One blow won't stop us from achieving!
