Little Lady Locks (HairCaps for Hairloss Children)

My idea stemmed last year when a lady called Laura contacted me to see if there was anything I could do to help her daughter, who was having a really hard time in school with bullies about her hair loss condition. At this time Isabelle was only 4 years old and had lost the top section of her hair. I explained that I hadn’t worked on children's hair before and asked them both to come in for a chat on the 3rd June to see what we could do. Unfortunately me and Laura lost contact.

Ten months have flew by and during this time I have been speaking to my lady clients who suffer with the hair loss and I would say 9 out of 10 of them have been left to deal with this condition on their own and they have explained how hard school was and the bullies. The Doctors sometime don’t give a diagnosis whatsoever and other times they explain its an autoimmune disorder and there’s pretty much nothing they can do to help. And that’s it! Now my thoughts are if this condition is heightened by stress, it then becomes a vicious circle because seeing something your stressing about is only going to get worse. I just can’t even begin to imagine being a young child and every day you see in the mirror bald patches and then kids in school bullying you about them, the mental and psychological effect this must have on a child is heartbreaking. After me seeing amazing results with my cap system and how good it makes each and every lady client feel, the light bulb pinged. Maybe just maybe if the cap is put onto these girls at a younger age then the condition might not become permanent like my older clients. Every single client explains how happy they feel every day not to wake up and see the condition and in some cases the natural hair is making rapid growth progress after years of being stable or deteriorating.

After putting my last status up, Laura contacted me again to say that unfortunately Isabelle had now lost all of her hair since the last time we spoken, her eyebrows and her eyelashes. I’m truly devastated to hear this.

I have said that I will do a days free work once a month to help these young girls and children and put cap systems on free of charge. My only issue is the hair costs. I have contacted Alopecia UK and basically there just isn’t any funding for support like this. Well I won’t stop there, while I look for funding or a charity to help cover the hair costs permanently, I have set a go fund me to get the ball rolling as I have 11 little ladies on my list for the systems already and feel like time is key with this condition. Also if anyone knows of any hair suppliers that would be willing to sponsor these girls or anyone willing to donate any old wigs they have all will be appreciated ❤️
