Help for medical cancer treatments And adaptations

We had been battling with the doctors for a few months as I started to get this lump on my tounge but no face to face appointment so I was diagnosed with a ulcer they tried me on different medications and creams non worked we kept telling the doctors this and that we didn’t think it was an ulcer and non of what they gave me worked and it kept getting worse and worse .

Eventually a few months later I gave birth March 2021 and I showed the doctor at the hospital and they referred me for a biopsy so 4 days after giving birth I had this biopsy of my tounge, then waited a few days to be told I have oral cancer that’s when everything came crashing down , and the doctor told me if I never gave birth when I did and didn’t show the doctor I would of died by June .

3 weeks after I gave birth I had my major surgery where they took half my tounge out and replaced with new skin and took the skin of my arm and the veins to replace my bad part of my tounge, they then cut me ear to ear to remove my lymph nodes as the cancer was starting to spread.

I spent time in the ICU as I had a tracheotomy to help me breath , i had to be sedated a lot as it made me hysterical and traumatised I couldn’t cope and I have to learn how to swallow and talk again .

I have no feeling of my neck , arm , chin and ear which I hate , I’m nill by mouth as I can’t swallow and now I’ve been fitted with a PEG . Finally after a month in hospital I’m home until I start my chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the beginning of June .

I have to travel from york to Leeds everyday for chemotherapy and radiotherapy we only need money for transportation , as it would be too traumatic for all of us  especially a 2 month old and 5 year old toddler to travel every day to and from St James’s Hospital .

This has and still is a hard battle I’ve had many mental health breakdowns, my nurogical disorder has got worse but they can’t do tests and scans ect until I have finished my treatment.

Housing we have been battling for 2 years as we were forced into the bungalow as they said it was just a stopping gap until we found somewhere more suitable As I am a full time wheelchair user and we are still battling that fight , we are entitled to a 3 bedroom but it all ready has to have lift in if it doesn’t then we have to pay for the lift ourselves which is impossible on benefits , the money will also help cover costs for a lift .

I’m not safe on a stairlift due to my nurogical problems
