As some of you may know, Helen Shanahan, instead of retiring, has recently had to take a career break in order to support her family. For over 25 years Helen has worked as volunteer breastfeeding support worker in Falmouth, Cornwall; for this service she was deservedly awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queen's Honours List 2019. Alongside this she has also passionately worked as an Infant Feeding Co-ordinator for the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust for 15 years. She is an incredible advocate for breastfeeding families, who has always gone the extra mile to support those who needed her.
Due to unforeseen circumstances Helen, along with her husband Patrick, are now responsible for raising their two small Granddaughters, the youngest who is only a few weeks old. Helen, who has spent her whole life caring for others, is well equipped to nurture these young girls but taking time out from work is going to be financially difficult. This is where we need your help. Any donation, however big or small will go towards relieving some of that difficulty and enable Helen to focus her energy on her grandchildren.
Donations will be going directly to Helen and the girls so she can relax and create some special memories as well. It is also an opportunity to show our appreciation of someone who has devoted her life to improving the lives of babies and their families.
Thank you for taking time to read this message and considering making a contribution. We also hope you can help by sharing this story with your family and friends so it can reach all the people whose lives have been touched by Helen.
