POKE is looking to raise funds to support the campaign against the Anaerobic Digestion Facility near Keynsham, Bristol. These funds will help us to pay for professional planning experts to challenge these plans, as well as other expenses such as publicity materials.
We are now at a crucial point and urgently need to raise £15,000 to pay for professional planning expertise, transport, and anaerobic digestion consultants to strengthen our case in opposing the planning application. It is through carefully reasoned argument and weight of numbers that we may win this battle, and that means using experts to give us the best chance of a successful outcome. Without your donations we cannot fight this.
The more you give, the greater our chances of winning and protecting our Green Belt. This is a small price to pay to protect your quality of life in your home and to keep already overstretched local roads for local people. The funds will be allocated and spent by POKE, which will be held in a dedicated bank account for transparency.
The previous planning application was only 25,000 tonnes and what was built was not in accordance with the 2014 planning permission and has an enforcement notice against it. The new application from Resourceful Energy Anaerobic Limited is for a major industrial-sized plant taking in feedstock for 92,000 tonnes with a daily average of 67 HGV movements - Monday to Saturday. We believe these figures are an underestimation of the true HGV movements. There are many examples of similar smaller sites (approximately 30,000-40,000 tonnes) causing problems to nearby residents with flies, odours, dust and noise.
Nobody is against sustainable renewable energy, but it is felt that this location is completely inappropriate, not only does it industrialise the rural landscape but it is only accessible by narrow lanes which are unsuitable for so many HGVs bringing in thousands of tonnes of waste.
Protect Our Keynsham Environment (POKE) was set up by a group of concerned residents to challenge the planning application, and to provide information to help residents who wish to object to the proposed Industrial Anaerobic Digestion facility near Keynsham.
