Help repair St Nicholas Church

Unfortunately St Nicholas, a  Grade One listed Church in our village of Castle Hedingham, dating back to the 12th Century and is associated with the DeVere family at the time the Magna Carta was created, was attacked over 2 periods with thieves stealing the lead piping from 5 down stacks along the North Wall. The extent of the the theft will cost several thousands of pounds to repair with additional costs being incurred by the damage caused. Although we are fortunately insured, the excess premium on our insurance as it is recorded as 2 crimes, amounts to £1,000.00 and the purpose of this fund raiser is to raise sufficient funds to cover these costs, especially in these difficult times when other fund raising is impossible.

We have already incurred additional emergency repair costs by having temporary downpipes installed to prevent further water damage,  due to the historic nature of the building repairs will take along time to replace.

At a time when finances for all churches are struggling, this added expense will greatly deplete our existing funds and donating to this appeal will be very much appreciated.
