In memory of Richard Okorogheye

My name is Blessing Okorji, Richard Okorogheye is my nephew.

Richard unexpectedly passed away sadly leaving his mother, father & loved ones.

Richard, who was just at the tender age of 19 when he died, is a wonderful son, cousin & friend, who touched the lives of many around him.

He is a beautiful, kind and thoughtful person, whose smile always lit a room that he entered. He is the son that would do anything for his mum, and just breaks our heart that he is not going to be here anymore.

He is a bright and intelligent boy who  studied at Oxford Brookes University and had high aspirations for the future.

He is loved by those in the community, he was always the funny one in the group, he had a radiant smile!

He had dreams and ambitions he sadly never got to achieve.

This is something that we never thought we would ever have to go through. We always imagined Richie in our lives. He had a big impact in his friends and family's life. We have all created amazing memories with him that we will all hold with us forever. His soul was so pure and he wanted so much out of his life the didn't get. He had dreams and ambitions that he never got to achieve.
We will always love you!

God bless your soul Richard. We have heard nothing but lovely and good things about you, we know you left this world way too young, but your presence will continue to live on through your family & friends.

Your sweet beautiful soul has left us too soon, your cousins & family wish to spend more time with you before this tragedy happened.

Richard had Sickle Cell disease, which was closely monitored by the hospital. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Richard was shielding during lockdown.

Evidence Joel, Richard's mother said: "Sickle cell disease has affected my child, it should be taken seriously at all time. Sickle cell disease is real. My wonderful child, loving and caring. Missing you Richard always in my heart." Mummy

His story has touched the lives of so many & the family are understandably shocked by the loss of their son.

For those of you who have reached out in regards to supporting the family in this painful time, it is very much appreciated & if you are able, please give a donation to help in the cause of Richards funeral costs & to build a foundation in his name to support Sickle Cell sufferers and Mental Health in young people. We also want to build a memorial bench where Richard was found.

Gone but never forgotten.
