IP17 Good Neighbour Scheme

IP17GNS is a newly established charity set up in March 2020 to support the 5,000 residents in Saxmundham and Kelsale-cum-Carlton through the coronavirus pandemic and beyond.

We currently have over 100 volunteers providing emergency food parcels, prescription deliveries, weekly shopping and a buddy service to those people across our communities who are most in need, for example those who are self-isolating and those with no close family or support networks to fall back on.

Like many rural towns and villages, we have a higher percentage of elderly and more vulnerable people than in many other parts of the UK.  We also have many families facing unimaginable challenges because they have lost some or all of their household income due to the crisis.  No-one should be going hungry because they can’t afford to eat and no-one should be suffering alone.  ALL these people need our help now.

To continue IP17GNS’s work and ensure the most vulnerable people in Saxmundham, Kelsale-cum-Carlton and the surrounding areas are cared for throughout the coronavirus crisis and beyond, we need your support.  An emergency food parcel costs £25 and will feed a family for a week – but any donation, however small, will make a huge difference to people who are struggling to survive in these unprecedented times.

IP17GNS – which was set up for you and your neighbours in just five weeks by a dedicated team –  is a community-led organisation which relies on the selflessness and generosity of our volunteers and donors to operate and to enable us to provide help to everyone who needs it.  We need be good neighbours, now more than ever.

While IP17GNS has been set up to respond to the current crisis, we see this as a long term scheme which will continue beyond the pandemic to better look out for the people in our community in the future.

Thank you for your support.
