Jules's Sponsored Head Shave

With everything that is going on right now I felt like I wanted to do something positive.  And possibly a little bit wild.  So..... (drum roll please): I have decided to shave my head!

On 1st May I'm going to cut off all my lovely hair to raise money for three amazing women's organisations: Women's Budget Group, the Magpie Project and Women for Refugee Women.

I know lots of people are in difficult circumstances at the moment and I would be super happy if you are able to donate anything at all.  No donation is too small, I promise! I will be massively grateful for anything that you feel you can give and it will mean so much to the charities and the folks they support.

Fundraising by small organisations and charities have been badly hit by the Covid-19 crisis, which has led to the cancellation of all fundraising events and will cause a huge drop in grantmaking by trusts and foundations (due to the impact of the stock market crash on their investments).  I've been growing my hair long enough to donate to a charity that makes wigs for children coping with hair loss (Little Princess Trust) since before having my baby, Max.

Now I need your help to raise money for these charities doing vital work to support women and children through the crisis.  Any donation you can make will be so gratefully received.

Thank you so much, you wonderful people :)

Your money will help:

The Women's Budget Group whose gendered analysis of the economy is highlighting that women are disproportionately impacted by Covid19. The key workers putting their lives on the line to keep our and other countries going, from frontline nurses to supermarket workers and cleaners, are mostly women. Women are the ones who will pick up the brunt of the increased domestic work as a result of nurseries and schools closing. WBG been super quick off the mark in terms of conducting and publishing gendered analysis of Covid19 and the government's response. The money raised for WBG will go towards supporting this work.

The Magpie Project, an amazing local charity who support mums and under 5s suffering in temporary and insecure accommodation in Newham (where I live).  Their work provides a safe and fun place for mums and their children, provides essentials (food, nappies etc) to mums that can't afford them and help mums to get the support and advice they need with housing, health and legal support. They've been an amazing source of support for mums struggling with lockdown alone. Money raised for Magpie Project will go towards this and their day to day work.

Women for Refugee Women,
who support women seeking safety in the UK to speak up and heard. They support over 250 refugees to develop confidence and skills. Women in their network are able to access a welcoming and supportive space where they can meet other women and begin to rebuild their lives.  The money raised for WfRG will go towards supporting this ongoing work.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR DONATING! Your support means so much to me and to these incredible charities. You really are the best!
