Learning to Walk...The Adventures of PigPen

Behold Pigpen!
A spunky but challenged golden retriever who was brought into this world on November 14, 2018. As one of eleven puppies, he was first thought to just be the runt of the litter who almost did not make it past his fourth day of life, but as he continued to grow there was a noticeable developmental difference between he and his mates. After taking Pigpen to several vet and specialist visits, there seemed to be little confirmation regarding what exactly was wrong other than the realization that this pup was unable to use his front legs to walk. This discovery, which occurred during his second week of existence, led to many questions and apprehensions related to quality of life and expenses for this sweet animal. Fortunately, with the help of his veterinarians he was able to begin physical therapy at Fetch Canine Rehab in Savannah, Georgia, where he has been attending sessions five days a week from 8 am until 6 pm. While Pigpen has made great strides since starting therapy in December, he has a very long way to go because he is still unable to fully walk. Due to his extremely young age, there are still many unanswered questions regarding his diagnosis and uncertainty in his ability to gain full function of his front legs. The amount of money needed for physical therapy, acupuncture, leg braces, and possibly even surgery is a huge financial undertaking, but this vivacious little guy is worth every penny. With the added assistance from these donations there is hope that Pigpen can reach his goal of walking and living his best possible life. Both he and I would be extremely grateful for any support that can be collected to help him be able to run around with his puppy friends one day! Please feel free to follow his journey on Instagram @the_adventures_of_pigpen, where there will be plenty of updates highlighting his daily accomplishments at physical therapy along with all the other treatments he gets to try to help him reach his goals!
