Libbies Greatest Finale

As most of you are aware a couple of nights ago heaven gained a gem, truly one of a kind, one of the most inspirational, kind hearted, caring people that you could have ever met so we have set up this page to set the stage for her finest moment her grandest finale.

Libbie was a true inspiration and touched the hearts of many people here in the U.K and Spain where she lived for many years….. she made many wonderful friends out there all of which I’m sure all have so many of their own fond memories of her.

Libbie had some truly magical moments in Spain her sensational singing voice led her to signing her record contract with Erik Nova producing her track “CRY WITH ME” (which I haven’t stopped playing), performing at the Benidorm palace but the most magical was when she met and fell in love with Craig who she absolutely idolised.

However Libbie got dealt some real rough hands during her time over there the first being when she contracted Steven Johnson’s Syndrome (SJS) in which she had to be flown to a Valencian hospital for her life to be saved and stayed for 9 months if this wasn’t bad enough Craig became ill and she lost the man she loved having him die in her arms. This completely shattered her and not long after this Natalie flew over and brought her back to the U.K

This is when I got back in contact with her via Facebook as we used to go to Meopham School together many years before this but it’s funny as we didn’t have much to do with each other at school as she always saw herself as a ‘plane Jane’ and thought I was one of these too cool for school types but the truth was she was much more of a personality then I ever could be.

We arranged to meet up, we was going to go for a drink at The Monks Head a little pub in the village that I live. I didn’t know what to expect when I was standing there waiting for her at the train station then from the train came this beautiful, bubbly personality walking towards me. We instantly clicked and became very close over the coming months and Libbie then fell pregnant with our son Elijah.

Libbie was over the moon after reading the positive test after being told that she wouldn’t be able to have children due to the damage that had been caused by the SJS.

However she didn’t have an easy time with this either with her waters breaking at 22 weeks she got rushed to the royal Sussex county hospital in Brighton as they was the only one that could facilitate her needs they managed to stabilise her and keep the baby inside until that fatal 23 week mark where he was born on the 21st August weighing only 1lb 1oz.

She was Devastated that she wasn’t able to see our son after birth and it wasn’t until they could finally stabilise him in the NICU unit we could see him. Due to the extreme prematurity, size, vulnerabilities and complex health needs we wasn’t allowed any physical contact with him and told to prepare ourselves for the worse as he would only have a 5% chance of surviving the first week of his life. Broken she fell to my arms in tears as she wanted nothing more to be his mummy.

We took each day as it came seeing little improvements as we sat by Elijahs incubator the days then turnt to weeks as our baby boy was showing his mother’s strength fighting each obstacle in his way. She sat by his bedside through everything everyday he was in hospital and even when he got transferred back to Kent. She was going to be an amazing mum you could feel the love beaming from her when she looked at our son.

After 165 days in hospital Elijah was finally discharged home on the 27th January. We had everything that we had ever wanted we had our baby boy home, we had our family.

Despite this Libbie was fighting so many personal demons (that she hid well from others) that myself and Natalie tried so desperately to help her with and do everything that we could but unfortunately this wasn’t enough as she tried to take her life on Monday 14th of June by hanging herself the paramedics managed to resuscitate on site after 20 minutes and then rushed her to Pembury hospital where the amazing doctors put her into an induced coma for 72 hours to allow her body to rest and blood flowing back to the brain. CT scans showed a white mass on the brain and the consultant had said to us that if she pulls through she is very likely going to be extremely brain damaged to the point where she just might know who you are… They reduced her sedation to see how the body would react she but they said she wasn’t showing the responses that they would have expected at this time from the part of the brain above the stem although there was still brain activity, due to her age and the activity the brain was showing the neurologist wanted to get an EEG done but this had to be done by a specialist from kings and advised us that whilst waiting for this EEG there is a possibility that the brain will just give up itself and sadly this is what it done on Friday 18th June unfortunately to much damage had been done and myself and Natalie had to make the heart wrenching decision to stop her life support and stayed with her till the very end her last breath.

We think that she held on to fight till this day as it was the 16th anniversary of her and natalies mother passing from ovarian cancer and take great comfort knowing that she had now been reunited with her mum watching down on us all.

Words can’t express how truly heartbroken, devastated and shattered we are and don’t ever think we can fully recover from this but our saving grace is having little Elijah in which his mummy lives through…. We hope that she can now finally find peace in her eternal rest knowing she is no longer in pain.

Mental health is real…. Depression, anxiety and paranoia are just a couple examples of mental health problems. Problems that thousands of people are suffering from in silence everyday so please if you feel that way speak to someone, just pick up the phone and make a call. We don’t want your families going through the pain that we are feeling right now.
