Oral cancer screening is the only cancer screening that needs to be paid for in Northern Ireland.
Due to the way the NHS and Private Dentistry sectors are funded, there isn’t the opportunity to be screened for oral cancer without payment (unless exemptions apply).
As a dentist of over 2 decades experience, I am passionate to offer free oral cancer screening to as many people as I can. I own and operate amobile mouthguard fitting company and as wetravel throughout the island of Ireland, I feel we are in an ideal position to include this free service at our events.
The ‘Goccles’ technology would allow simple, non invasive screening to allow me to ascertain if an individual should be referred to a dentist colleague for a referral.
I want to offer this service as a public initiative to allow anyone and everyone to avail of these services whilst my mobile mouthguard fitting business GUMSHIELDS2GO operates around the Province.
If you support my ethos and believe in my initiative, I would gratefully purchase the equipment required, and offer this oral cancer screening as part of our services offered throughout Northern Ireland.
NB: The Goccles technology requires the purchase of a quality UV dental curing light. Hence the slightly higher fundraising amount.
