My beautiful boy Pugwash has had an incredibly tough 6+ months... He has had to move home 3 times, lost his dad & his sister, has since lost his brother of 10yrs after watching him go through a horrendous battle with canine alzheimers (CCD/sundowners) & now he himself is gravely ill...
Essentially, after 3yrs of no known episodes, over the last 2 - 3wks he has now deteriorated rapidly... He has been extemely lethargic, uncoordinated, unbalanced & with awful seizures; some taking as long as 10+ minutes to fully come round from! £100s in bills later and we have now exhausted ALL exploratory options with our local vet, & have now come to the time to visit the neurology specialists, NDSR in Bletchingly, UK, where he was also referred to/seen back in 2018. His new appt for tests is booked for the 20th May, which - at the time of writing this - is literally only 9 days away!
His ever increasing medical costs are not covered by insurance as the issues are pre existing, I unfortunately have NO means of borrowing as I do not earn enough in my current role, and now - as of yesterday - the bill has now doubled for me, as his co owner of 10+ years will not acknowledge the previously agreed burden to help with any of the large bills on either side, so we are now alone.
For transparency, here are a few of the costs:
- Consultation £366.32
- MRI £3000+
- Spinal tap: Cost is open ended as it depends on too many factors on the day
- Any other proceedures to be determined
- Medication itself to bring home
- Ongoing blood tests
This last year or so really has been INCREDIBLY tough for us all & it honestly breaks my heart as a result to have to rely on others generosity at a time where - I'm sure - we could ALL use some assistance... But the reason I am having to swallow my pride & create a fundraiser is after losing my business of 9yrs in August, being turfed out of my home during the 2nd lockdown as my landlord was selling, subsequently caring (round the clock) for his brother Stanley before his recent passing & having numerous health issues myself, I have GENUINELY done all that I can in between for money and stability.
However as of January I have been - for the first time in my life - unfortunately relying on Universal Credit to try to help me get by... I was actually entitled to it since last Summer, but was too proud & determined to try to make my own way at first & (although I am very grateful for every penny) it only covers around 1/3 of my basic monthly outgoings, so you can likely already see the issue! Lastly, I was also unfortunately one of the 300,000 that the government 'forgot' throughout Covid IE I have been in receipt of NO self employed payouts & absolutely no other form of assistance. The last 2 years have (quite literally) buried me with one thing or another, with no feasible let up due anytime soon.
Ergo desperate times really are calling for desperate measures... & the thought of losing my beautiful boy a mere number of weeks after losing my first, absolutely consumes my every breath with unparalleled grief. I will do anything that it takes to help him & cannot allow him to suffer for the sake of money. So I have to find a way.
Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for reading this far, and any help is appreciated more than I can ever TRULY articulate... If by some miracle money is raised and there is anything remaining, it will go on his continued medical care and I will be posting receipts/invoices as proof.
All the very best, Ella & Pugwash X
