Hi! My name is Hayley and i am fundraising to help try and save the life of our beautiful 8 month old Rottie girl, Ellie.
We collected Ellie at 9 weeks old as a beautiful addition to our family, for our 7 year old son and 5 year old daughter.
We picked Ellie up from a reputable breeder and everything was seemingly perfect! The initial vet checks indicated she was fit and well.
She was everything we wanted her to be... the most soppy, loyal and friendly dog we could have asked for! Loved by everyone she comes across and just wants to play and be stroked. So gentle with our children!
Fast forward a few weeks and a vet check picked up a heart murmur, something which is fairly common in large breed dogs, something we hoped in time would go away as it does in so many cases.
We have now had Ellie for 8 months and things have taken a massive turn for the worst...Ellie has been given months to live. Without critical life saving surgery in addition to lifelong medication Ellie's heart will fail. She is currently at high risk of sudden collapse or worst case sudden death.
Ellie has been diagnosed with 2 heart conditions.
On the left side, pulmnoric stenosis. The valve between the right ventricle and pulmonary artery is too narrow and needs surgery to insert a balloon and widen the valve.
On the right side Ellie has tricuspid regurgitation resulting in a belly full of fluids. Her heart is having to work too hard and fluid is leaking backwards.
Ellie has been referred to the royal vetinary college (RVC) in Potters bar where one of the leading cardiologist teams in europe for dogs resides. They are our final hope.
The cost of treatment to this point has eaten the insurance limit and the cost of surgery is huge. Ongoing costs will continue but we can't not try everything in our power to try and save our much beloved family pet.
Its breaking our hearts! We are not ready to say goodbye. We simply can not try everything we possibly can to help give Ellie the life she so truely deserves. She really is the most special girl.
I never thought we would be in this position. A position where we are calling on the help of people but we are. We contemplated putting this up and went round and round in circles and all roads led to the same point...the point where we just have to do everything we can for Ellie.
Thank you for reading our story it truely is appreciated.
Ellie will need surgery ASAP. This may even happen as early as next week due to the severity of the issues she has.
how can you help?
If you could please be so kind as to share this it would be very very very much appreciated. Our hope is that if enough people see this, the generosity of a large group of people via small donations may get us to where we need to be to help Ellie.
If you are able to donate a small amount towards Ellie, no words would ever be able to articulate the immense gratification we would feel. Thank you again for taking the time to read.
