Providing a positive future
Hi my name is Sean Bruce and dad to 2 young boys Alvaro and Lyall.
I am fundraising to be able to put myself thru a 6 month barbering course at Glasgow's Scottish Barbering School.
Sadly on the 8th June 2018 a day that started like any other normal day, I would get up kiss my fiance Eli, the boys mother and leave for work, and just like every other day we would text each other, mostly to give me a list of stuff to pick up on my way home. Then as I was working I missed a call from my children's school, so I phoned back to be told that no body had turned up to pick my youngest Lyall up from nursery (just turned 5 yearsoyears then). So I spoke with my boss to let me leave to pick him up, so unlike Eli to miss a pick up, this would be the first time. As I traveled back to carnoustie my mother phoned to say school had phoned her (must of been in-between my miss call and calling school back) So my mother and auntie went straight to the house as I was nearly at the school.
Sadly Eli was found passed away in a chair, I tried to give resuscitation but it was to late.......Eli was such a beautiful caring loving person only 27 years old, to young to be taken away from us, Eli had sadly had a massive heart attack. My world had collapsed, my soul mate, gone......
Then came one of the hardest things in my life, how do you say to a 6 and 5 year old that there mummy has passed away, how do you stay strong for them, when you are heartbroken inside yourself.
This is when I started to suffer from depression and anxiety really bad, then just 2 months, after Eli passed my employer terminated my employment, my world had collapsed again, for the last 2 years I have battled with my depression and anxiety, alot of the time losing, and wondering why carry on, then I look at my boys, and they are my reason to keep on fighting, to carry on when I want nothing more than to give up.
I have lacked passion and drive, and that's not something I want the boys to see or look up to, but I have found something that has begun to inspire me and that's to become a men's Barber so I can provide for my family and start to write an new future for ourselves, where they can look up to me and be proud of what I have achieved, so I can give them all they deserve in life, and a positive future.
Stand on my own 2 feet again, I just need a little help to get myself rolling, and once I get rolling there will be no stopping.
