Terminal cancer fundraiser for our mum

Our mum Ellie has suffered with a bit of a cough and shortness of breath for couple of months.  Unfortunately due to covid her gps didn't want to see her and kept prescribing antibiotics.  After two months of this and mum getting worse I decided to take her to hospital so she could be properly checked out. And this is where our nightmare began. After spending 11 hours in A&E on 1st of August 2020 we have been given the devastating news that our beautiful mum and best friend has terminal small cell lung cancer. She has less than 6 months to live. This was such a shock to us. Nothing in life could have ever prepared us for this. We have been spending as much time with her doing everything we can although nothing can make up for the time we will have without her.  She started chemo in August as without it we would have even less time and at the beginning of September on my birthday i had to shave my mums beautiful hair off. All those little moments are absolutely heartbreaking my mum always being a very energetic, independent person having to  watch her struggle now doing basic tasks. At this point mum can barely leave the house and requires a lot of help. There are so many things we wanted to do and so many memories still to make. Mum wanted to visit her birth place where she grew up and where her own mum is buried for the last time, but we don't know if that will be possible. At the moment Mums only wish is to spend the remainder of her life at home with her family.   To help mum achieve this in a most dignified way we need to make some adaptations to our home. The most urgent adjustment she requires is conversion of the downstairs bathroom. It would help tremendously in achieving her wish unfortunately we have so very little time. Mum is no longer able to work and although we work full time and cover whatever we can is just something we can't do on our own at this time and with a possibility of having to take unpaid leave to look after her and then the costs of funeral its all too much.  We would love to be able to spend the rest of her days together and not having to worry about all of this but unfortunately we are not in a position to do so and thats why I decided to reach out for help.  My mum never had much but always worked hard and never complained. Life was not always kind to her -she was orphaned at the age of 3 - but she always had a smile on her face. Even now - she is laughing through tears and putting a brave face on. However little mum had she would always share it with those in need. She taught us so much and we were always loved. I wish her story wasn't ending just yet I wish our story had few more chapters. And I pray for it every day. I thank you for taking the time to read our story and any help is greatly appreciated.
