The Edge Run for Safe Families and Funding Sports

I was born and raised in Whitehaven in Cumbria. One of the most beautiful parts of the Country. Boasting a beautiful coastline and only 10 minutes from the Lake District National Park.
In recent years social issues in the area have covered the media with negative press and I feel that it is only right to paint a greater picture of where I am from and giving it credit where it is due. I left Whitehaven as I wanted to progress and develop so I can be up-skilled as possible. But, it is time that I gave back.
I have chosen Safe Families and requested that all money raised goes back into the West Cumbrian branch. These guys who work and volunteer here are providing a service to the most vunerable in the community. This week alone a family needed clothes for their kids. A member of a local church got in touch and immediately provided, by buying new clothes for the kids. As a child I never went without clothes, a meal, a roof over my head etc. It's not until you consciously consider those who aren't as fortunate or have their own struggles to provide that you question your consciousness to those around you. Safe Families provide a service to work alongside families and young people helping them with their everyday needs and facilitating recreational activities. Sometimes it can be as simple as a listening ear or investing time in children's lives.
I want to split the funds raised to help fund different projects within the culture, media and sport sectors in West Cumbria to develop our future leaders and generations. If Covid has taught us anything; family, friends and the social circles you immerse yourself in are much more important than even life itself at times. I feel privileged for the experiences that I have had to handle during my short existence both in the good, the bad and even the ugly.  But I have also had a lot of positive times within these troubled experiences and have turned mistakes into positive outcomes. I would encourage anyone to strive for inner greatness challenging your own aura you create to those around you.
On Saturday 1st May I will be doing 'The Edge Run' virtually. I will be running the Coast of Copeland in an ultra 70km. I will be starting at Millom and ending up in Whitehaven. Wish me luck and follow my progress on social media.
