Wealden Literary Festival was cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic which has had such a profound effect on all our lives.
Wealden Festival Foundation is a charity that aims to help individuals and communities thrive through access to literature, the arts and the outdoors. It achieves this aim through an annual festival in Kent and outreach programmes with schools and communities, particularly targeting deprived parts of the county.
The charity’s income is a mix of ticket sales, sponsorship and charitable funding. Grants that have reliably supported the charity’s work in the past have been diverted to other more immediately pressing causes. Whilst this is completely understandable, it has significant implications for the future sustainability of the charity especially given the loss of the 2020 Festival.
In short, having to cancel last year's event has meant that we now need to raise urgent funds in order to help safeguard the future of the charity, its annual Festival and outreach programme.
We have launched a fundraising campaign to help ensure that we are able to return this year with a packed programme of nature-inspired author events, workshops, hands-on activities and a dedicated timetable for younger readers and nature-lovers.
Anything you can spare, will make a huge difference. And if you can’t afford to donate directly, sharing this page with others will assist us greatly.
Please donate and spread the word.
