After such a devastating year for so many last year, the Otley 2030 team knew that demands on the food bank had increased and fresh fruit and vegetables were beyond the reach of many in our town.
We were overwhelmed by the kind generosity of so many who helped us to deliver our promise of two boxes each to 140 households within Otley. It was a huge success and everyone who received a box was so grateful for some healthy fresh food.
This would not have been possible without the kindness and generosity of the people in our community who donated to our Christmas fundraising campaign, the market traders and all the brilliant volunteers and we cannot thank everyone involved enough for their help.
We are still living in very difficult times, however, so Otley 2030 have decided that it is not enough to just deliver once. We are aiming to make 4 more deliveries of the much needed fresh food boxes to coincide with the school holidays - February half term, Easter, May and Summer.
With such generous donations from Christmas, we have enough funds to be able to deliver at February Half Term.
For the remaining 3 deliveries, we are asking for donations to "Sponsor a Box" .
Each box costs £5, or a one off £15 will ensure that a household receives a box each holiday.
It is a sign of our times that the number of households in Otley requesting donations for food is on the increase, so please donate whatever you can to ensure that those in need in our community can have access to some healthy, fresh food.
Thank you from the Otley 2030 Team.
