The ‘Working Class Creatives Database’ is a platform to share and highlight the work of working-class creatives and to promote a more diverse arts culture in the UK.
There is a known absence of people from working-class backgrounds in the creative arts. As of 2020, only 16% of the workforce in creative industries are from working-class backgrounds. Art is a reflection of our time and if working-class people are not given the opportunities to develop sustainable careers, our stories are not represented.

HOW WE WILL USE THE MONEY RAISED:
In March we were lucky enough to secure studio space at Set Studios Woolwich where we plan on running 3 month-long residencies throughout the year as well as workshops, and hireable desk spaces for our members. The studio will also be a place for our Core group members - who volunteer their time to keep the database up and running - to meet and work on the future of the database.
In order to make the most out of the space, we want to raise £700 towards the cost of building walls so we can have 2 studios within the space as well as building desks and shelves to provide more flexibility in using the space.
The £700 breakdown:
Stud wall: £355.06
(35 x Timber: £134.75, 10 sheets OSB boards: £210, Screws £10.32 )
Van hire to pick up donated furniture: £100
(Picking up donated furniture 5 hrs: £50, Building walls: 3x 5 hrs £150)
We appreciate all donations! If you can’t donate £ but have any furniture you would like to donate we are looking for PAT tested Monitors,
Thank you for donating!
