My Dad to me, age 20 and my three younger brothers age 4,10 & 14 has had a tragic accident on his road bike .

He loved cycling, he was in fact with three Friends when he came off his bike in preparation for going to the Pyrenees as he did last year .

My mum and dad are both keen cyclists, they enjoyed doing it regularly together and had many things planned for the future .

As a family we go to Lanzarote every year, they always take their bikes and they go out every morning doing hundreds of miles a week.

On the 3rd July he came off a road going downhill fast, he went up a bank and hit a tree. The impact of the handlebars and the seat fractured all of his ribs and his sternum, he also broke his back and his spinal cord was crushed which has caused permanent paralysis to his T4 section which is to his upper chest .

He was airlifted to st Georges where he stayed in an induced coma for two weeks to help with his breathing .

Now nearly six weeks later he has just been moved to Stanmore Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London where he will undergo rehabilitation to learn to do as much as he will be capable of .

As you can imagine this has been a huge shock for us as a family and the impact it will have on all of our lives is going to be huge . More importantly my dad is going to have to rebuild his life and accept that the thing he enjoyed the most (cycling ) Won’t be possible in the same way he did it . Such a freak accident life is certainly unfair !!

My mum has been great, she has tried to be strong for my brothers and is trying to stay focused on getting the house ready for his return, which could be in about another two to three months .

She has only seen him for 30 min since this happened , Covid has made it very difficult . I am proud of my mum, her life will change just as much as my dads but they are strong and love each other just as they did at 17!

They are having to have an extension to make a bedroom downstairs and change one to a wet room . Also , putting in all the necessary measures to enable him to manage his life , So funds are tight.

I want to raise money for a wheelchair for my dad . I want him to love this chair just like he did his bike . I want to do something to help him and my mum and take some pressure off them

I would like to get him a carbon wheelchair which is ultra light and modern just like his bike was , he deserves it .

Any help anyone can give would be much appreciated

this is the chair my dad would absolutely love

so please please please any help would be really appreciated. I just want to make him happy like he deserves.

If I manage to get over the target then the rest will be for a special bed to make sure he’s comfy. ❤️
