Jordan Taylor, an employee of a local supermarket, invited my little brother, Jack Ryan, to help him stock groceries. Jack Ryan, or “Ziggy” as I call him, is diagnosed with autism and often becomes fixated on things. Jack Ryan was watching Jordan stock the coolers when Jordan asked Jack if he’d like to help. The smile on Jack’s face said all of the words that he couldn’t. Jack and Jordan stocked the coolers as a team, Jordan encouring Jack Ryan as he finished each task.  Jordan told me he loves math and would like to possibly be an educator someday. All I know is, whatever he decides to do he will excel! Thank you to Jordan for what you did for our Ziggy, we will never forget!

Let’s send Jordan to school!

Wow! Thank you so much to every single person from around the world who donated to “Send Jordan from Rouse’s to School.” The support for the kind act Jordan did is a reflection of our values as a nation and a representation of what one kind act can do and how far it can spread! Thank you to everyone who shared the story and in turn spread autism awareness and awareness for inclusivity in the workplace. Finally, thank you to Jordan who is now considered a friend to both my family and I. He didn’t know his kindness would be rewarded tenfold, but he did it because it’s just in his character to reach out. Good luck on your educational goals and bright future! We are SO happy for you! When Jordan decides on a college, I will be sure to update.

As for Jack Ryan, he has accepted the offer to begin work training/part time job at Rouse’s with a shadow always working alongside him. Thank you to Rouse’s for including those who are differently-abled or have any sort of exceptionality. We are so proud of our Ziggy on getting his very first job!

Keep being inspired by Jordan and all of the other “good guys” out there- we now have proof that they still exist!
